Frenectomy

Our doctors are trained to evaluate children for possible tethered oral tissues, such as a lip tie or tongue tie. A tongue tie is when the piece of tissue under a child's tongue restricts movement of the tongue. A lip tie is when the upper lip is restricted due to a tight attachment to the gum tissue near the front teeth. We work with myofunctional therapists in the community to fully assess and diagnose tethered oral tissues and to prepare for any needed release of the tight tissue attachments. Our doctors are trained to release tethered oral tissues with a laser to allow the tongue and lip to move freely. Since the tissue is released with a laser in the dental office, there is typically minimal bleeding and pain.
